If release is directed the prisoner will be subject to licence conditions.
- In the case of public protection sentenced prisoners these will be the standard licence conditions set out in the Criminal Justice (Sentencing)(Licence Conditions)(Northern Ireland) Rules 2009.
- The Commissioners will recommend any additional licence condition(s) that it is felt may be required to ensure that the prisoner can be released safely into the community. These conditions will be specific to the prisoner’s circumstances.
- In the case of life sentence prisoners the Parole Commissioners will recommend any licence conditions they feel is necessary to ensure that the prisoner can be safely released into the community.
It is important if the prisoner has anything that he/she wants to say about any proposed licence condition that he/she does so during the hearing.
